I helped my mom unwind her yarn. I held my hands out and she rolled the yarn into a ball. It took a long time, so I tried to adjust the process to make it go faster. The yarn tangled and it took us a longer time to fix the error.
She said that was a metaphor for life. Don’t try to speed things up, follow a steady course and you’ll complete the task at hand. I said that following a steady course is boring. I’d rather try something new, and if I fail, I’ll know not to do it that way anymore. I learn from experience not from doing what someone tells me.
This time she was right though.
She bonked me on the head with the now spun ball of yarn.
